Make a list of ALL the POSITIVE results …
Comment posted Even A Chicken Can Get Lasik Surgery by Sue C.
Make a list of ALL the POSITIVE results you’re going to gain from having it done. Then list the negative results you’ll have from having it done. KNOW it’s only going to last a matter of seconds & the reslut is going to last a life time! With ANYTHING I do that I KNOW is going to be "uncomfortable", I say to myself, "I CAN take whatever I have to go thru to get the results that are WELL WORTH IT" & just make up my mind it’s totally worth a moment of discomfort to get to the end result. I’ve been told MANY MANY times what a good "patient" I am or that I didn’t even flinch over it. It’s ALL BECAUSE I preprogramed myself that a moment’s discomfort is WELL WORTH the end result. I had catarac surgery done on one eye & was "commended" on how well I reacted compared to others. I just tho’t to myself, it’s actually mind over matter. Just tell yourself you CAN DO IT, you ARE going to do it, & you’ve already made a list of ALL the reasons why you’re going to benefit from it. I went thru unbelievele pain having a full face lasier surgery done on my whole face. Was ALSO commended on how "calm" I was. YES, it did hurt having the burnt skin scraped off my face with "scratchy" gause pads each time I went in for post surgery visits, BUT, just kept my mind set on the END RESULT & that is was going to be WELL WORTH IT. It was!!! Just try to consentrate on the end result & this is what you have to go thru to get there. It’s not going to last forever, but the "end result" will. I’ll bet too, your "negative" list w/have nothing compared to your "positive list"! You CAN DO IT!!!

- Im guessing that the worse part was the thing they stuck in your eye to hold it open. I hated it too. Just imagine being able to see afterwards. and do exactly what they say and will be over sooner good luck. And imagine, you already paid.

i know i was a nervous wreck when i had mine done
i’m surprised they didn’t give you anything to prior to the surgery
something to calm you downmeditate, say a prayer, and know that after this short surgery
you’d be able to see without using any contact lenses and or eyeglasses.good luck to you.
you can do it!
References : - When I had my lasik surgery they gave me a little pill that was supposed to calm my nerves, it wasn’t a sedative, just a "calmer downer", I would ask if they have anything like that they could recommend. Also, the biggest hurdle I had was someone taking a scalple to my eye to make the primary incision. So I shelled out about 300 more dollars and opted to have the laser make the cut. It also heals better and faster that way. Regardless of the method, you have to decide what is right for you and what you are comfortable with, then weigh the pros and cons. Even though the surgery takes all of 30seconds per eye, it may not be worth it to you to be in that kind of situation. I am guessing since you are skittish about touching the eye that you must not wear contacts. Personally, having lasik was the best decision I could have made! You could go swimming and still be able to see, you can wake up in the middle of the night and check in an instant what time it is, and it just a free feeling all around. But again, you should wait until you are comfortable to have it done. I am a bit surprised that this didn’t come up when you were having all the tests performed to measure the eyeball, since they have to dialate, and take numerous computer scans. But good luck to you whichever you decide!

PRK is not "better" than LASIK. they are just different.LASIK has a significantly faster healing time, which is why it is more popular. most people can return to work/school seeing well & not in pain 2 days after LASIK. not so with PRK, which takes weeks to heal & is more uncomfortable. as you pointed out, PRK has no "flap", but it is much more likely to have corneal "haze" that needs to be treated.
each of them have their merits & disadvantages (there are more than i just listed). you should discuss your options with your doc. but its kind of silly IMO to announce that PRK is "better" than LASIK. i do not consider that to be true at all. theyre different.
both PRK & LASIK are significantly better than RK, which you likely not talk any US doc into performing on you in 2010

The guy who told you about his RK did not have typical results. Most people that had it wear glasses. Some wear different prescriptions depending on the time of day. PRK involves taking the top layer of the center of your cornea. This area is then reshaped by the laser. This gives you the same effect as having a larger corneal abrasion. This means that you don’t see real well and your eyes really hurt for a while. Bandage contacts help with this but it is still a hassle. When the flap is put back down in a LASIK procedure, the eye is pretty much back to normal. There are new ways of creating the flap that give better results. Interlase is an example.

you should opt for Ortho K lenses instead of Lasik Surgery .these lenses are overnight lenses ,just you have to wear it in the night while sleeping and in the morning you have to remove it.whole day you dont require any spectacle or contact lenses. After Three weeks u have to wear it jsut twice in a week while sleeping and 2-3 days there will not be need for specs or any contact lenses.
Different hospitals in Delhi like Shroff Charity Hospital, Daryaganj(Dr. Manisha Acharya),St. Parmanad Hopsital,Mall Road,Venu Eye INSTITUTE,sHEIK SARAI(Dr. Raminder Bakshi)are doing it.
